Silver boat

Rachael Dickens, Lives on the Kent coast where she swims in the North Sea all year round. She collects scraps of fabric on the beach which she uses in her stitched work. These sea washed fragments speak of journeys, of being tumbled and tossed and swept along by forces out of their control.  Much like the desperate journeys of refugees fleeing from war or persecution.
The work resonates with  fragility and vulnerability but the little boat symbol which appears throughout her work imbues a sense of hope and endurance.
The tiny silver boats hang on long sterling silver chains and nestle at the heart- centre of the wearer, a place of love, compassion and gratitude. Each has a tiny bronze anchor conveying security and stability.   Every piece is hand made and cast in solid silver and bronze.

Solid silver boat on 60cm chain with bronze anchor £95.00 each. 34% of the purchase price of every necklace goes directly to KRAN. Kent refugee Action Network. https://kran.org.uk/
