Silver Boat

Solid silver boat on 60cm chain with bronze anchor £125.00 each.

Rachael Dickens, Lives on the Kent coast where she swims in the North Sea all year round. She collects scraps of fabric on the beach which she uses in her stitched work. These sea washed fragments speak of journeys, of being tumbled and tossed and swept along by forces out of their control.  Much like the desperate journeys of refugees fleeing from war or persecution.
The work resonates with  fragility and vulnerability but the little boat symbol which extends throughout her work imbues a sense of hope and endurance.
The tiny silver boats hang on long sterling silver chain and nestle at the heart centre of the wearer, a place of love, compassion and gratitude. Each has a tiny bronze anchor conveying security and stability. They have been hand made and cast in solid silver and bronze. Only a limited number of fifty pieces will be made to coincide with this exhibition so please buy now to avoid disappointment. Solid silver boat on 60cm chain with bronze anchor £125.00 each.

They are on show with other work including paintings and ceramics, at the Fish Slab Gallery in Whitstable from 6th -12th March 2019.

Rachael will be at the gallery every day from 10-5pm. If you can’t get to the gallery but would like to purchase a necklace please get in touch with Rachael directly.
